Navigate and organize with Explorer

Explorer provides a structured view of your presentation, making it easier to navigate and manage complex presentations. View sections, slides, and TOC items in one pane, expand or collapse sections, and select any slide to navigate directly to it.
Open Explorer Pane
- In the Utilities group, select Explorer on the Deck tab.
- The Explorer pane opens on the right side of the PowerPoint window.
Navigate Presentation Structure
The Explorer pane displays your presentation structure, including sections, slides, and TOC items.
- Use the Expand/Collapse arrow next to a section to show or hide its contents in the presentation tree.
- Expand a section to view its slides.
- Select a Slide to navigate directly to that slide in presentation window.
This makes it easier to move between different slides, particularly when working with longer presentations.
Organize and Manage Slides
Rename/Delete a slide: Rename or Delete a slide directly from the Explorer pane. The changes will be automatically synchronized with the corresponding slide thumbnail in PowerPoint.
- Locate the slide in the Explorer pane.
- Open the three-dot menu (⋮) or right-click the slide name, select Rename or Delete.
- When prompted, enter the new name for renaming the selected slide and click Confirm to save the changes.
- Similarly, in the confirmation dialog box, select Confirm to complete the deletion of the selected slide.
- The updated changes will appear in the Explorer pane and PowerPoint.
Reorder Slides
Explorer enables users to reorder slides through drag and drop. The updated slide order is automatically synchronized with the PowerPoint presentation, while preserving the existing slide content and formatting.
- Click and hold the slide name, drag it to the desired position in the Explorer pane.
- Release the slide to place it in the selected position.
- The updated slide order is automatically reflected in the PowerPoint presentation.
Important — Explorer is particularly useful for larger presentations, enabling users to quickly locate, navigate, and manage slides without relying extensively on the slide thumbnail pane.
